Husqvarna, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of innovative professional tree care products, has launched the 525DEPS MADSAW. MAD standing for OSHA’s Minimal Approach Distances, a term used often in the utility industry. Minimal Approach Distances is an OSHA standard for electric power generation, transmission, and distribution (OSHA 1910.269). The product is revolutionary to the utility industry because the Husqvarna MADSAW is a dielectric pole saw, meaning it resists transmitting electric force through conduction which insulates the user against shock under 36,000 volts or less.

HUSQVARNA MADSAW Uses

The purpose of the MADSAW is to enhanced safety for tree care and utility professionals by utilizing the nonconductive properties and extended length of the MADSAW. Linemen can work more efficiently while staying further from the line of fire and strike zone. A lineman can use the MADSAW from their bucket, in a tee, or on the ground, offering users versatility to adapt in any environment. The two available lengths (9’ and 12.5’) make it easier for linemen to work on hard-to-reach areas, reducing the amount of time climbing and repositioning. The MADSAW offers linemen an alternative to cumbersome hydraulic equipment and inefficient manual pruning making line clearance tasks easier than ever before.

LIGHTWEIGHT 12″ CUTTING BAR

12-in cutting bar features a X-Cut® chain (3/8-in, mini pitch, .050 gauge) to deliver the same robust performance as Husqvarna’s professional tree care chainsaw models.

CUSTOM COUPLERS

The custom-fit couplers connecting the pole saw’s sections can be loosened or tightened down for quick and easy assembly and storage in the specially designed, durable carrying bag (included).

DIELECTRIC SECTION

Made from dielectric lightweight fiberglass to meet OSHA 1910.269. Label verifies individual testing by third party. Can be easily attached to pole saw sections to form 9-ft or 12.5-ft configurations.

REMOVABLE HARNESS HOOK

Harness hook easily attaches to harness strap worn by the operator to optimize comfort and reduce strain on the arms and shoulders during extended cutting tasks.

ALUMINUM CAPS

The pole saw’s shaft seals and sealed bearings are designed for all-weather durability, preventing deterioration and ensuring a long and productive product life.

CHAIN LUBRICATION

Automatic chain lubrication can be easily adjusted to increase or decrease the volume of Husqvarna’s recommended dielectric bar and chain oil flowing to the cutting bar during operation.

RUBBER SAFETY BARRIER

Rubber reach barrier is fixed tightly to pole saw for long-lasting effectiveness, but can adjusted and positioned according to the desired reach of the operator.

THROTTLE GUARD

Ergonomically designed throttle guard is positioned to both protect the operator’s hands during cutting tasks, as well as and prevent any unintended presses of the throttle.

LOW VIB™

LowVib™ technology reduces fatigue and dampens vibrations with exclusive rubber isolation that prevents vibrations from going into the operator’s arms.

Included with the saw is Husqvarna’s 525 powerhead, a trusted 25cc 2-stroke engine with 1.34 HP and X-Torq. The MADSAW engine ensures high performance and reliability. The aluminum couples with sealed bearings and shaft seals are ideal for all weather conditions. Safety enhancements include a LowVib, Husqvarna’s unique vibration-reducing technology which incorporates rubber isolation to reduce the vibrations transmitted to the user and a movable rubber barrier, which operators can modify according to their desired reach area.

Storage

The MADSAW offers superior storability. The purposefully designed dielectric midsection can disconnect from the powerhead and cutting head, giving the user the option to store the tool securely, in multiple locations in the bucket truck.
